The Salvation Government has given the green light to Central Bank of Libya to lift food and fuel subsidies, and replaces them with cash payments.

In an announcement today, the government said removal of subsidies comes in implementation of law 9 for 2015 about the public budget.

Each Libyan national will receive LYD 50 dinars per month in subsidy substitution according to the subsidy removal plan.

The government ordered the bank to deposit the pavements into the people's accounts starting from September 2015, as an advance payment to control market prices.

Subsidies on water, medicines, electricity, and public cleaning services will stay in place.

According to the 2015 budget law, LYD 11 billion dinars were allocated for subsidies, LYD 6 billion of which were disbursed until September 30.
