A ceremony was held on Wednesday on the occasion of the opening of the second phase of Bahr Essalam offshore field project, which links new wells to the production of gas at the Sabratha marine platform.

The opening ceremony was attended by the chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Sarraj, the chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sannallah, the Regional and Executive Director of ENI, the Director of Operations and the Italian Ambassador.

Sarraj said during the opening that his government is determined to encourage investment in the oil and gas sector, and to give opportunities to encourage global giants on a commercial basis in the interest of partnership between the two sides.

According to the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Sanallah stated that there is a need to provide stability to the local market supply of its natural gas needs for the operation of power generation units and industrial units on a regular basis, in partnership with the Italian company Eni.
