Sheep pens in the Ubari region southwest of Libya were fully engulfed by flames fanned by strong winds Monday night, the Municipal Council of Ubari has confirmed.

No humans were hurt, but the blaze caused severe damage, and many animals were lost.

Mayor of Ubari Ahmed Matko and the region's elders paid a visit to the barns to assess the extent of the damage.

The mayor called on the concerned farmers to reports their losses, emphasizing that the Municipal Council will follow up on the matter and take action to ensure they are compensated for the damage suffered.

A severe sandstorm hit Ubari and the surrounding areas a few days ago, damaging public property and causing low visibility on the coastal road.
