The UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephani Williams met on Monday with the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Othman Jerandi, in Tunis to review the latest developments in Libya.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining the political momentum in Libya to push the process towards the elections.

"We stressed the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in Libya to push the political process forward, including the holding of national elections as soon as possible," the UN Rep. tweeted.

They also highlighted the crucial role of Libya’s neighbors in supporting the North African nation in their path towards peace, security, and stability.

In this regard, Williams said that Tunisia's role is instrumental and commended its commitment to the stability of Libya and the support extended to UNSMIL.
