Senior officials at the Educational Facilities Authority (EFA) held a meeting in Tripoli on Tuesday with a consortium of Italian companies to debate over cooperation in implementing some urgent educational projects.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Ministry of Education, discussed an offer posed by the Italian companies to establish 26 "ready-built" schools with global specifications, in addition to the construction of outdoor courtyards and sports fields.

According to the offer, the adaptive capacity of the schools varies according to its classroom designs and service facilities.

The EFA said it intends to study the offer at engineering and technical terms, and whether it meets the needs of some areas suffering deficit of schools.

For their part, representatives of the Italian companies said – if they won the tender- that they are able to carry out the project with global specifications, and the applicable standards given by the authority within a period that will not exceed five months, pointing out that several countries who have experienced natural disasters and armed clashes have adopted such schools before.

The EFA did not provide name of the Italian consortium.
