The Head of Libya’s National Anti-Cancer Authority, Haidar Al-Sayah, revealed that over 4,000 patients have fully recovered from cancer thanks to Libyan medical efforts.
In a speech published by the Libyan International Conference on Oncology and Radiotherapy, Al-Sayah said that more than 4,000 scans were conducted in the country over the past year.
He also confirmed that cancer medications are set to arrive in Libya soon, describing the move as a practical realization of the authority’s core mission and one of the most significant outcomes of sustained efforts to provide cancer treatment domestically, with dignity and safety.
“The best cancer medication in the world has been secured for the Libyan people,” he said, adding that the arrival of the first shipment of oncology drugs—procured through the National Anti-Cancer Authority from high-quality global manufacturers—offers a key moment of reassurance for Libyan cancer patients.
Al-Sayah further noted that the “Moharib” (Fighter) database has recorded and diagnosed over 24,000 cancer patients in Libya, revealing that nearly 17,000 of them were previously unregistered and neglected in the national cancer registry.
