The Head of the National Cancer Control Authority, Haider Al-Sayah, stated that the Authority has not imported any medicine from Iraq or any Arab or Asian country.

Al-Sayah confirmed via his Facebook page that the Cancer Control Authority imports medications from the United States of America and Europe.

He stressed that the Authority is not responsible for any medicine imported outside its system and held those who do so accountable for any consequences that may arise.

Al-Sayah’s remarks came in response to what the Iraqi Ambassador to Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced regarding Iraq exporting its first shipment of cancer treatment medicines to Libya, manufactured locally according to the latest international standards.

Al-Sahhaf explained that this step comes “as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the brotherly State of Libya, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani and the supervision of Health Minister Saleh Al-Hasnawi.”

He added that his country’s embassy in Tripoli is giving these efforts special attention and follow-up to build stronger bonds of brotherhood between Baghdad and Tripoli, describing it as a national achievement that “confirms the success of plans to localize the pharmaceutical industry and support our brothers.”
