The Drug Control Center has okayed the new shipment of the Russian Sputnik vaccine, which arrived on Tuesday via Mitiga Airport, Director of the Medical Supply Authority, Muhammad al-Khabouli said.
Al-Khabouli confirmed, in a press statement, that the shipment consisting of 100,000 shots is now in the medical supply stores, noting that they will start distributing the vaccine to health facilities next week.
As for other vaccinations, Al-Khabouli clarified that they had also received other routine vaccinations in addition to much-needed medicines, including oncology drugs, and will receive more in the coming days.
On Tuesday, the Food and Drug Control Center gave the green light for the Pfizer vaccine shipment that arrived on June 24.
According to the National Center for Disease Control, the Pfizer shipment consisting of 54,000 doses will target medical staff.
The Food and Drug Control Center asserted that they had conducted all laboratory procedures from physical, chemical, and bacterial analysis to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines.
