Libya's Minister-designate of Health of the Government of National Unity, Ramadan Abu Janah, participated along with an official delegation in the meetings of the 69th session of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The meetings will go on to October 13.
The meetings, which started on Monday, are attended by WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Regional Director Ahmed bin Salem Al-Mandhari, a number of health ministers in the countries of the region, representatives of international and regional bodies, experts and advisors.
WHO meetings discuss strategic issues, technical and health papers, and progress reports related to the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region, such as partnership with the private sector to advance universal health coverage, polio eradication, hospital information systems, HIV, and digital health, according to a statement by the Libyan Ministry of Health on Facebook.
The Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean meets every year in October as member states discuss and approve regional policies, activities and financial plans.
