The Director-General of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Haidar Al-Sayeh, has launched a Covid-19 vaccination campaign for ten days, starting on Tuesday under the title “with you till 6:00 until Friday”.

Al-Sayeh added to Libya Al-Ahrar TV that all health centers in the country and large complexes in Tripoli, Misrata, Benghazi and Sabha will operate daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm even the holidays, Friday and Saturday, to raise community immunity.

“95% of the cases inside the isolation centers under artificial respirators are those who have never received the vaccine or received a single dose of the vaccination more than 6 months ago”, Al-Sayeh indicated.

He also added that the number of critical cases that need intensive care is 135 in all the country, saying that the death toll has decreased to 1.3, stressing that the situation is still worrying, even though the Omicron variant has mild and less serious symptoms.

Greater Tripoli region considered as a red zone and it is at the 5th epidemiological level, while Al-Zawiya and Al-Khums are at the 4th level, while the rest of the regions are at the third level.

The country was on the verge of a disaster due to the sit-in of medical staff, Al-Sayeh said, stressing that the center met with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the designated Minister of Health in order to allocate a sum of money to workers in all isolation and filtration centers, monitoring teams, and others.
