rabies

The National Centre for Animal Health has deployed a veterinary team to Al-Rujban in the Western Mountain to investigate suspected cases of rabies.

In coordination with local officials, the team met with the Mayor of Al-Asabea Municipality to plan awareness campaigns aimed at educating the public on precautionary measures against the disease.

Speaking to Libya Al-Ahrar TV, Abdulrahman Jbeil, Director of the National Centre for Animal Health, confirmed one rabies case in Al-Asabea. He described the disease as seasonal and dangerous, affecting both humans and animals, but assured that the situation remains under control.

Jbeil added that treatment for humans is currently available, with vaccines expected to arrive in Libya within two weeks.

He emphasized that rabies is not a new concern in the country, and authorities are implementing necessary measures to combat its spread.
