Sirte Municipal Council says it has found two mass graves in the city containing around 12 bodies.
The head of the council's information office Muhammad Al-Ameel said that the graves were discovered at the construction site of Ibn Khaldun School.
Work at the construction site was suspended, and authorities were contacted to retrieve the bodies and determine their identity, says Al-Ameel.
According to the same source, the bodies are likely to be victims of ISIS that was controlling the city at an earlier time.
