The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has confirmed the loss of 2500 megawatts of the electrical grid, as a result of the closure of the crude oil pipeline feeding some stations by a force from the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG).

The oil closure caused the suspension of the feeding gas for some of the company's stations, including Al-Ruwais, Al-Zawiya, Al-Khums, and part of the Misrata station, according to the GECOL.

It also confirmed that the closure will result in technical difficulties in meeting the increasing demand for electrical energy and the increase in load hours, especially in the current days that are witnessing a drop in temperatures.
