The High National Elections Commission  (HNEC) has decided to disqualify 340 candidates who failed to meet the required conditions for candidacy in the second round of municipal council elections.

The HNEC decision stated that concerned parties have the right to appeal the ruling through the appropriate legal mechanisms and within the designated timeframes at the competent courts.

In a separate decision, the HNEC also announced the preliminary list of accepted candidates who met the legal requirements. A total of 4,631 candidates were approved to run for 62 municipal councils across the country.
