International monitoring stations recorded an earthquake off the coast of the city of Derna on Monday evening, with a magnitude of four on the Richter scale.

According to VolcanoDiscovery website, which specializes in earthquakes, said that an earthquake occurred in the eastern Mediterranean at 16:05, and it was 36 kilometers east of Derna.

In the same context, the data analysis engineer at the National Center for Remote Sensing, Abdel Moneim Souissi, said that measuring earthquakes in Libya does not exist, adding that the local seismic center has been out of service for more than 10 years.

He also pointed out that major earthquakes can be measured by the observatories of neighboring countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, and southern European countries, and this depends on their magnitude.
