The Tripoli Criminal Court has issued a five-year prison sentence and a fine against a former official of the Documentary Credits Department and his deputy at the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB), according to Libyan Attorney General’s Office.
The defendants were sentenced on charges of embezzling public funds dealing with the bank's pledge to pay an amount of 5,767,000 euros for the benefit of the Administrative Centers Development Authority.
In its last session, the court ruled to sentence them to five years in prison and fine each of them 50,000 dinars, in addition to oblige them to pay 150,000 dinars.
