The Libyan Coast Guard rescued 98 illegal immigrants from various African nationalities after their boat broke down at sea on Friday.

The Tripoli Branch of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency said that among the migrants were 43 women and 2 children who were accommodated and provided with medical services.

The relevant embassies of those who were rescued were contacted so as to identify them and issue temporary documents to facilitate their return to their country.

A Libyan Coast Guard patrol also rescued 121 illegal migrants on Thursday including women and children.
