The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has said that “it is necessary for the members of the Political Dialogue Forum to agree on a constitutional basis for the elections, especially since no progress has been achieved in this area so far”.

Aboul Gheit added, during his participation in the meeting of Libya's neighboring countries, which began in Algeria on Monday, that “all Libyans must be encouraged to move from the logic of competition to the logic of consensus and work to overcome the legal, constitutional and logistical obstacles that hinder the elections”.

Aboul Gheit also stressed the need for foreign forces and mercenaries to leave Libya to ensure Libya's transition from chaos, hold elections, and end the foreign interference.
