The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya - the former Governor of the Parallel Bank - Ali Al-Hibri said that the issue of printing local currency is an internal matter, and it is one of the competencies of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) linked to indicators of the Libyan economy according to the needs of work.

In his statement to Al-Massar TV, which is affiliated with one of Haftar’s sons, Al-Hibri expressed his surprise at the statements of the United States representative in the Security Council, in which he expressed Washington’s concern about the intention of the eastern-based CBL branch to print a new currency.

“We are concerned that steps toward reunification have stalled amid reports the eastern-based branch is seeking to print currency abroad”, the United States representative to the Security Council, Jeffrey DeLaurentis said.
