The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir discussed with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres the global financial crisis as well as the role of central banks.

The discussion came in a meeting in Washington D.C. on Friday, in the presence of the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, central bank governors and representatives of international institutions. This meeting is a part of the annual meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC).

According to the CBL's statement, the participants reviewed the experiences of countries to reduce the repercussions of the global financial crisis, the prospects for the global economy in light of the continuing state of uncertainty and the acceleration of high inflation rates, and the role of central banks in reducing the effects of the crisis, in addition to achieving integration between monetary and financial policies.
