Vice President of the Presidential Council (PC), Abdullah Al-Lafi, has held talks with representatives of displaced communities from eastern cities to discuss national reconciliation efforts and the challenges facing displaced families at home and abroad.

The meeting, held as part of the Council’s drive to advance a comprehensive reconciliation process, focused on the humanitarian and social hardships endured by displaced groups and the barriers preventing their safe and dignified return.

According to a statement from the Council, Al-Lafi reaffirmed the Presidency’s commitment to prioritising the issue of displaced persons within the broader reconciliation framework. He underscored the need for inclusive participation in shaping the country’s future and drafting a new social contract that guarantees rights, protects freedoms, and promotes national unity.

“Reconciliation is not simply a political track, but a national project rooted in transitional justice, reparation, truth, and accountability,” Al-Lafi said. He added that creating the conditions for voluntary and safe return is key to strengthening stability and laying the foundation for a civil state that embraces all citizens.
