The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) Emad Al-Sayeh said the HNEC had failed plans to promote political agenda and provided sacrifices, and will continue to do so, for Libyans not for those in power.

The HNEC's Chairman made his remarks at a speech on Martyr's Day celebration event at the HNEC headquarters in Tripoli - 16 September - that is the day when Omar Al-Mukhtar was martyred.

Al-Sayeh paid tribute to the homeland martyrs and spoke about the martyrs of the terrorist attack on the HNEC in 2018, adding that the "dark powers" attacked the HNEC because they realized it would be a hindrance to their plans of political agenda within Libya.

Al-Sayeh said the HNEC has the power, readiness and willingness necessary to take Libyans to free elections as per international standards.
