The Chairman of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, discussed with the US Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, the political parties’ positions on municipal council elections and their impact on the success and continuity of the electoral process.
Al-Sayeh received Norland on Thursday, reviewing ongoing preparations for the municipal council elections (Second Group 2025).
According to the HNEC statement, Norland praised what he described as the “significant efforts” made by the HNEC to ensure a conducive environment for free, fair, and transparent elections that reflect the will of the Libyan people and their aspirations for building a stable democratic state.
He reaffirmed continued cooperation between both sides to support the HNEC in organizing the upcoming elections in line with international standards.
