The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reiterated Wednesday the importance of holding elections in Libya on schedule on December 24, saying Cairo supports a successful political process and removal of foreign forces from Libya.

Al-Sisi's remarks came in a meeting with the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in the presence of the Egyptian Foreign Minister and Intelligence Chief as well as a number of US officials.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency said it a statement that the meeting saw discussions about regional developments, including Libya, and the Egyptian and US officials agreed to increase coordination with international partners to support preparations for Libyan elections and the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries as well as the unification of military and security institutions.
