Ammar Ben Jamaa, Algeria's permanent representative to the United Nations, has stressed the importance of the Libyan people receiving full compensation for the damages they have suffered, explaining that this compensation is an urgent necessity in light of "the continued erosion of Libya's frozen assets due to their mismanagement and use."
Ben Jamaa, on behalf of the A3+ group (which includes Algeria, Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Guyana), expressed the group's concern about the mismanagement of some international financial institutions, stressing the importance of holding them accountable to ensure justice is achieved.
These statements came during a Security Council session chaired by Algeria, when members discussed the renewal of the mandate of the Panel of Experts of the Sanctions Committee on Libya, which was established under Resolution 1970.
