Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra welcomed his Mauritanian counterpart, Mohamed Ould Marzouk, in Algeries on Sunday for bilateral talks that focused on security concerns in the Sahel and Sahara region, including the situation in Libya.

A statement by the Algerian Foreign Affairs said the two sides exchanged views on the developments in Libya and Mali and prospects for unifying regional and international efforts to support peaceful solutions that preserve the unity and sovereignty of both countries.

The meeting touched upon the major themes in the international arena and its impact on the region, in addition to the threat of terrorism and organized crime.

On Sunday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune accused "some parties" of attempting to vitiate the atmosphere every time Libya gets close to finding solutions to its crisis.
