Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf held talks with the Head of the UN Support Mission In Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathily, on Monday, which focused on coordination efforts towards resolving the political stalemate in Libya.

Bathily, who is currently visiting Algeria, said his visit comes in continuation of his consultations with regional actors.

"I exchanged views with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria today in Algiers. I shared my assessment of the political process, and we examined the national reconciliation efforts and other matters," Bathily wrote on his X platform on Monday.

According to Bathily, both sides shared the same vision on the need for Libyan leaders to engage and address controversial issues to move forward to elections, indicating that this comes in line with the aspiration of the Libyan people to ensure unity and open an era of peace, stability, and prosperity.
