Tourism Police and Protection of Antiquities Authority of Sousse in eastern Libya has arrested a man while he was excavating inside the city's archaeological area, after being monitored for four days.

After investigations, it became clear that the person specializes in the field of history and ancient civilizations, and he is a university professor at a Libyan university, the Authority explained.

It also indicated that they found antiquities inside his house, including metal equipment, statues, pottery, gold, silver, and bronze coins, precious stones of various sizes and colors, and some archaeological and historical manuscripts, confirming that all legal measures were taken for referring him to the Public Prosecution.
