South Tripoli Court of Appeals has postponed to next Wednesday considering the appeal of Mustafa Sanallah, ex-chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), against the decision to sack him by the Government of National Unity's (GNU) Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.
Dbiebah appointed Farhat Bengdara as new chairman of NOC, saying Sanallah's appointment in 2014 was not legal - a notion communicated also by the Oil and Gas Ministry that said the appointment at the time was temporary by a deputy minister. However, Sanallah said Dbiebah's sacking decision was null and void as his government's legitimacy expired.
In the midst of this fuss, US ambassador Richard Norland said it is legal to appeal the NOC's change of board of directors at court but not to use violence.
