The Algerian News Agency quoted an informed source as saying that the African Union (AU) is to propose sending a joint observer mission with the United Nations, in order to ensure respect for the ceasefire in Libya, noting that it would take place immediately after signing the ceasefire agreement in Geneva.

For weeks now, the AU has endeavored to bring a responsible contribution to the Libyan crisis.

This comes on the eve of the African Summit on Libya, which will conclude its work today, with the participation of fifteen leaders, in addition to the Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez al-Sarraj and the UN envoy, Ghassan Salame.
