A body recovered from one of the mass graves in Tarhuna has been identified as Fathi Attia Al-Ashkham, Tarhuna Victims Association has confirmed.

In a post on Facebook, the association said the General Authority for Searching and Identification of Missing Persons was able to identify Al-Ashkham by matching his DNA with his family in March 2022.

The victim was last seen on June 21, 2019, at a checkpoint in the Zatarna district south of Tripoli controlled by the pro-Haftar Kaniyat militia.

In 2019, the notorious militia accused of killing hundreds of civilians in Tarhuna allied with Khalifa Haftar in his offensive on the capital before the assault failed, and the militia fled east.
