The Internal Security Agency has intercepted an attempt to smuggle 100 kilograms of gold and €1.5 million at Misrata International Airport. The discovery was made during routine baggage inspections for passengers en route to Turkey.

According to the Internal Security Agency, officers found the gold, weighing 100.8 kilograms, and the cash split across four bags. The gold was concealed in three bags, while the money was stored in the fourth.

Those responsible for the bags have been detained, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office has authorized judicial officers to begin investigations into the matter, the Agency confirmed.
