Authorities in Tobruk have arrested 500 illegal immigrants off the city's coast, a security source from the Tobruk naval base confirmed on Wednesday.

The vessel was carrying 400 Egyptians and 100 Syrians, among them women and children.

According to the source, the boat was towed "by force" to the port of Tobruk, where the migrants were disembarked, interrogated, and referred to a shelter run by the Anti-Illegal Immigration Authority.
