Libya’s parallel government of Fathi Bashagha has denied press reports about its expulsion from Tunisia, describing these reports as “rumors”.

The foreign ministry of the government said in a statement that Tunisia has never asked Bashagha to leave its territory, confirming that it’s in constant coordination with Tunisia over the two countries’ relations.

The denial of Bashagha government came in response to press and social media reports which revealed that Tunisian authorities had informed Bashagha to stop his political activities on its soil or leave the country.

Bashagha arrived in the southern Libyan city of Sabha on Thursday and held his first cabinet meeting after his attempts to enter Tripoli failed.
