The National Oil Corporation (NOC) Chief, Farhat Benadara, on Monday, briefed the Head of the Presidential Council (PC), Muhammad Menf, on the situation of the oil industry and the challenges facing their plans to increase production rates.

The meeting, which took place at the PC HQ in Tripoli, was part of a series of meetings Menfi is conducting with national entities to follow up on the security, military and economic developments, a readout by the PC media office said.

It may be worth noting that the NOC head convened in early February an expanded meeting, grouping the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the head of the Libyan Investment Authority, ministers and NOC officials, representatives from the Libyan Foreign Bank, directors of Libyan banks abroad, and representatives of Libya's major partners and oil companies, to discuss support for the oil and gas sector in Libya.
