The media office of the Benghazi Medical Center reported that between 25 to 30% of all cases of Coronavirus recorded in the isolation center, in need of intensive care and respiratory support, appear to be young adults in their early to mid-twenties.
An official account of the center on Facebook quoted the director of the isolation center at the hospital, Ahmed Al-Awjali as saying that they are witnessing an obvious increase in the number of newly infected patients with the virus, particularly in recent months.
Al-Awjali added that the intensive care cases have reached and indeed exceeded the center’s bed capacity, commenting that they intend on increasing the number of beds to accommodate more patients needing ventilators, in order to reach a capacity of 32 beds.
