The Mayor of Benghazi municipality, Abdul Rahman Abbar, who was appointed by the military governor of the eastern region, stated that he hoped Britain would contribute to mine clearance and participate in the reconstruction of Benghazi.

During his meeting with the British ambassador in Libya, Frank Baker, Abbar said that the war led to the destruction of much of the city`s infrastructure, pointing out that this visit would open the door of cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Baker said that his country seeks to contribute to the demining process and now it’s planning to hold a Libyan-British economic conference in the presence of a delegation of large British companies specialized in Infrastructure in the coming days.
