The Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, has defended Turkey’s military presence in Libya, considering it legitimate, according to official Memorandums of Understanding and agreements between both countries.

In statements to Turkish media, Cavusoglu explained that the agreement with Libya was made at the request of the former Government of National Accord (GNA), led by Fayez Al-Sarraj, stressing that Turkey intends to continue in its training and advisory role, according to the MoU, noting that Turkey’s presence in Libya, Syria, and Azerbaijan has redefined political equations and results.

He also reiterated that his country did not intrude on any nation, revealing that Turkey expected further visits, commercial agreements, and greater cooperation with their Libyan allies during the near future.
