The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Saddek ElKaber, has given instructions to commercial banks to start disbursing additional $500 per citizen to the Libyan families.

On its Facebook page, the bank explained that the new receivables are to be added to the dollar allocations of the heads of households for the year 2018, adding that this step comes within the framework of the implementation of economic reforms approved by the Presidential Council (PC) recently.

Earlier this year, Libyan families obtained $500 per citizen with the official bank rate of LYD 1.38. This comes as the dollar price in the parallel market rose to around LYD 6.50.

As from next year, the annual allocation of dollar to the Libyan families will be risen to $1000 per person.
