The Governor of Libya’s Central Bank (CBL), Nagy Issa, held talks with Visa executives on Wednesday aimed at expanding electronic payment services across the country.
During a meeting in Washington, Issa met with Andrew Torre, Visa’s Regional President for Central Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, along with Caitlin McDonnell, General Manager and Head of U.S. Government Relations.
According to a the CBL, the discussions are part of ongoing efforts to boost financial inclusion in Libya by promoting digital payment systems and tightening controls on financial transactions, in line with international anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.
