The leader of the peace ambassadors' initiative to end Sabratha conflict, Hussein Al-Hosumi, has said that their initiative seeks grounds for establishing ceasefire and settle disputes between the two warring parties in the city.
Al-Hosumi explained that the initiative came from concerted efforts from a group of young people in the western region, stressing that they have reached out to all conflicting parties within the city to mediate a cease-fire, but their initiative has been met with positive response from one side of the parties and with intransigence from the other side.
He added that the mediators will meet on Monday in the city of Gharyan and consequently move to Sabratha in hopes of resolving the dispute peacefully.
Local sources confirmed that the Salafist Al-Wadi armed group, which fights alongside ISIS Fighting Operations Rooms, is refusing to cease fire, accusing Brigade 48 of being “terrorists”.
