The Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency announced on Monday the deportation of a number of Chadian immigrants through Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli.

According to the agency, the immigrants were deported for violating Libyan immigration laws, confirming that deportation process is continuing.

This comes amid broader concerns raised in March by the Minister of Interior in the Government of National Unity, Emad Al-Trabelsi, who revealed that there are an estimated four million undocumented immigrants in Libya.

He warned that the continued, unregulated influx of immigrants could worsen both security and social conditions, not only in Libya but across the entire region.
