Local sources have reported the death of a child as a result of violent clashes that took place at the Amsaad-Salloum border crossing during the early hours of Tuesday morning between the border guards and the people of the area.
The clashes, which resulted in the burning of a number of military vehicles belonging to the border guards and the death of a child, came after a border guard targeted a car suspected of carrying a smuggler.
The security authorities in Tobruk and the medical center in the city declared a state of public emergency in preparation for the clashes that the border crossing witnessed, according to the same sources.
