The Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Aeneas Aeneas Chuma, has visited the city of Benghazi, focusing on discussing the ongoing humanitarian and development efforts of the United Nations in coordination with the Libyan authorities.
The visit that Chuma made on October 29 and 30 is the first to Benghazi since assuming his new position on October 8, succeeding Canadian Georgette Gagnon, according to a statement issued by the UN mission.
During the visit, Chuma held meetings with representatives of UN agencies, during which he affirmed the UN family's commitment to providing support to all in Libya based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, integrity and operational independence that govern the humanitarian work of the United Nations.
