The Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns arrived in Libya's capital Tripoli on Thursday and met with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the Government of National Unity's media office has announced.

Burns reiterated the need for joint security and economic cooperation, hailing the stability and development that Libya had been going through recently, according to the media office, which added that Dbeibah said his goal was stability for Libya and support for holding elections.

The US chargé d'affaires attended the meeting on the US side, while on the Libyan side, the Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush, Chief of Intelligence Apparatus Hussein Al-Ayeb and State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumua were present.
