The General Authority of Culture has stated that it had no previous knowledge of the controversial book “Sun Shining on Closed Windows”, nor any contact with the author.

The authority added that the book was not printed in Libya and was never subjected to any censorship. The book, which was written by a group of young Libyans, has been deeply criticized for including passages that have been described as overly erotic with the use of foul language and sexual references, which does not reflect the culture of Libyan street but rather affects public morals and Islamic principles.
