A group of separation advocates gathered Saturday in front of Tibesti hotel in Benghazi at the request of the Federal Union to protest the handover of oil terminals to the National Oil Corporation in Tripoli.

Angry protesters took down the national flag and replaced it with the flag of Cyrenaica region, accusing the oil institution in the capital and the Central Bank of Libya of supporting what they called “terrorism.”

The protesters also called for the redistribution of oil resources between the three regions to guarantee “the rights of Cyrenaica,” demanding the House of Representatives to reject the draft constitution.

The Federal Union is a separatist political entity that calls for the separation of Cyrenaica from Libya and the establishment of an independent state.
