The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has decided to set the reconciliation day between the cities of Misrata and Tawergha as a National Reconciliation Day.

"With the advent of the fifth anniversary of the historic reconciliation between the cities of Misrata and Tawergha, we decided to make this date a national day to raise the values of reconciliation, tolerance and coexistence in our beloved country." Dbeibah said, Hakomitna media platform said. 

On Jun 04, 2018, a reconciliation charter was signed between the cities of Misrata and Tawergha, after nearly seven years of dispute. The reconciliation charter ensured the right of the people of Tawergha to return to their city but after coordination with Misrata regarding securing Tawergha after returning to it, and their recognition of the crimes committed by the Gaddafi regime against the revolutionaries in 2011.
