The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah told the Head of High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri that the decision he made regarding the appointment of a new board of directors for the National Oil Corporation (NOC) is not within the scope of HCS consultative authorities and role, thanking him for his non-abiding opinion.

Al-Mishri warned in a letter to Dbiebah on Thursday against the ramifications of replacing the current NOC board of directors at this stage, adding that the change now could lead to division within the NOC and thus create a catastrophic economic crisis.

Dbeibah decided to sack NOC Chairman Mustafa Sanallah and replace him with Farhat Bengdara, who assumed his office at the NOC headquarters in Tripoli on Thursday despite Sanallah's rejection.
