The Defence and Security Council convened a meeting on Monday to discuss the security situation in Gharyan following the clashes that broke out between armed groups on Sunday.

The meeting grouped Muhammed Menfi, Head of the Presidential Council (PC), PC Vice Presiden Abdullah Al-Lafi, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and Chief of the Libyan army, Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Haddad.

The officials stressed the necessity of coordination between the various security agencies to maintain security, stability, and the safety of citizens.

Sunday's clashes left at least seven people dead and 20 others wounded before the joint security force assigned by PM Dbeibah announced its control of the city.
